Manawa Ora Stories from the Street

Auckland Live presents

Manawa Ora is created by 12 young South Aucklanders in collaboration with New Zealand’s most cutting edge talent. Their vision will manifest in large–scale artworks, sculpture, soundtracks and performances.

This mash up of music and video, one-act plays and theatre will get tomorrow’s talent working with mentors Ladi6, Chip Matthews (Opensouls and Eru Dangerspiel), Oscar Kightley, Pana Hema-Taylor (Boy), Vinnie Bennett (Fantail), Aroha White, Aroha Newby, Tourettes, and visual artist Josh Paki – directed by Curtis Vowell.

These deeply personal and brave tales of hope and survival will be brought to life on the stage. Come and listen

Audiences will experience monologues in which stories from the street are brought to life on the stage. The artist and rangatahi pairs will create large-scale artworks while musicians will work with youth on soundtracks that will be interwoven through the performances.

Directed by Fantail film maker Curtis Vowell, the stories will come together to form one explosive theatre production that brings to light tomorrow’s talent.
