Mangere Youth Providers Network meeting

Mangere Youth Providers Network meeting

Community Events/Notices/Services: Open floor

Guest Speakers

WERO Whitewater Park – Willie Maea

It will provide an opportunity for our youth to go white water rafting without travelling down the line.  The Park can provide confidence building activities or just another option to take our young people to experience something away from the norm just down the road.

TAHA Well Pacific Mother and Infant Service – Amio Ikihele

TAHA’s vision is that all “Pacific children have the best possible start to life”.  TAHAs mission is also to improve the health and wellbeing of Pacific mothers and infants during pregnancy and in the 1st year of life.  We recognise that for many Pacific families ‘It takes a whole village to raise a child’ and we value that collective approach.

We acknowledge the wider context of families and the community, and we consider the important role of fathers, other caregivers and the involvement of the wider family in ensuring the wellness and safety of both mother and baby.  TAHA works collaboratively in the health sector on key areas of health and wellbeing for Pacific mothers, fathers and infants such as:

Maternal health, including access to primary health care, pregnancy education and support

Infant care and safe sleeping practice

Maternal smoking cessation and breastfeeding

Support for Pacific families during and after pregnancy
