Ane Tonga’s exhibition Men are from Maama, Women are from Pulotu examines nifo koula (gold teeth) as a Tongan cultural phenomenon.
Her ongoing investigation resulted in the gendered photographic series Grills which featured women with nifo koula who live in New Zealand, which will be shown alongside Fakaētangata a new ‘brother’ series made in the Kingdom of Tonga.
