How do we perceive identity? An exciting new exhibition by Russ Flatt (Ngati Kahungunu) examines this complex question through the gaze of the traditional photographic lens.
Perceiving Identity brings together photography, portraiture, documentary and fiction based narratives that explore gender and culture. Perceiving Identity also highlights the similarities of historic European Salon-style presentations and the way in which portraits of ancestors
are hung in the Marae (Māori meeting house).
