The MAORILAND FILM FESTIVAL

The MAORILAND FILM FESTIVAL is to be an annual International Indigenous Film Festival in Otaki, New Zealand.
Opening on Wednesday 26th of March, Māoriland will present a range of indigenous feature and short films across four days. Filmmakers will join us from across the world to showcase their works.

For the inaugural 2014 MAORILAND FILM FESTIVAL the spotlight will be on Maori filmmakers with Taika Waititi screening and discussing his films. We will also have talks from award winning sound designer Dave Whitehead (Avatar, Elysium, District 9, LoTR), producer Quinton Hita and director Te Arepa Kahi (Taua and Mt Zion) and a key note presentation from Tainui Stephens on the whakapapa of Māori film.

On Saturday 29th of March we will roll out the red carpet for the Māoriland Film Festival Red Carpet Party with Dallas Tamaira (Fat Freddy’s Drop), Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots) and Mark Vanilau performing live in concert. The Red Carpet Deluxe Coach is available to bring guests from Wellington to Otaki (with stops at Porirua, Paekakariki, Paraparaumu and Waikanae) and home again. Tickets to the Red Carpet Party are only $45 while Red Carpet Deluxe Coach tickets are only $20 (return included).

Māoriland will be the premiere Indigenous Film Festival in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is a unique opportunity in Aotearoa to view some incredible films and meet the people behind them. It cannot be missed.
