The Northland Pasifika Fusion Festival 2016 is about celebrating our unique Pasifika individuality and inspiring and empowering our Pasifika community.
The pair wanted to ensure their Northland tour would take in the festival, which was staged for the first time last year and was a huge success.
Whangarei will be transformed again into a bright, vibrant and fun-filled family festival and this fits in well with the Laughing Samoans’ particular brand of good humour and family-friendly entertainment.
The Northland Pasifika Fusion Festival 2016 will bring together peoples of the Pacific to celebrate and share their food, arts, crafts, dance and music with the rest of the community.
The organisers, Northland Pacific Islands Charitable Trust, hope to attract at least 5,000 people to this event which showcases the local Pacific Islands communities’ cultures, including Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, Tuvalu, Tonga, Fiji, Hawaii, Tahiti, Kiribati and NZ Maori.
A stage will feature live performances by the various island community groups and talented groups and individuals. The islands will be showcased in their individual village groupings with food, art and craft stalls.
Food and arts and crafts will be on sale and the programme will feature dance and musial performances throughout the day, children’s activities, demonstrations and lots of cross cultural fun.
